Evaluating the Return on Investment for Thermal Blankets for Pallets

Discover how thermal blankets for pallets safeguard against product degradation, damage, and waste.

It's clear that disruptions in your cold chain can be costly. Product spoilage, diminished customer trust, compromised brand integrity, and financial instability are real-world impacts of a broken cold chain.

You cannot afford this. You need to invest in the cold chain packaging and technologies proven to enable and encourage an uninterrupted, trusted, successful, and viable cold chain.

Enter thermal blankets for pallets

CCT thermal blankets for pallets are specifically engineered to address cold chain threats during air transit.

What Is A Thermal Blanket for Pallets?

A thermal blanket for pallets is designed to protect cold-chain goods shipped by air, water, and land from the effects of the external environment.

This passive thermal solution is designed to protect temperature sensitive goods from a range of shipping and transportation hazards, including:

  • Weather including wind, sleet, hail, snow, rain, and heat
  • Unpredictable and fluctuating temperature volatility
  • Radiation, including radiation emitted from the tarmac and solar radiation
  • Human behavior, including accidental damage, negligence, and theft

Thermal blankets for pallets are also called insulated pallet covers, pallet covers, thermal cargo covers, thermal pallet covers, and cargo covers.

Protecting your pallets of chemicals, medical devices, cosmetics, electronics, perishable food products, and pharmaceutical ingredients with thermal blankets is the smart choice for any company who wants to build a secure and uninterrupted cold chain solution.

How Do Thermal Blankets for Pallets Work?

Thermal blankets for pallets establish a protective barrier between your cold chain products and external conditions, maintaining an optimal temperature range for your goods.

Similar to a thermos, thermal blankets create an optimum shipping and storage environment for cold chain products. For example, thermal covers keep pallets of life saving medications in an ideal temperature range to prevent degradation which would render them ineffective. And for products requiring warm or room temperature conditions, these thermal covers protect against heat and conduction, ensuring a stable temperature range.

CCT Thermal Covers are engineered to reflect over 90% of solar energy, offering substantial protection against short-wave solar radiation when your products are exposed to sunlight. Our thermal blankets for pallets are solution-specific, allowing an exchange of air and water vapor through the fabric, ensuring stable moisture levels preventing ambient temperature fluctuations. This breathability delivers controlled humidity loss, reducing condensation to minimize the risk of water damage to your products, primary packaging, and labels.

Thermal pallet covers also provide a layer of security, keeping your products concealed from view and making it difficult to tamper with your pallets.

Maximizing Return on Investment with Thermal Blankets for Pallets

Investing in thermal blankets for your temperature-sensitive pallets guarantees:

  • Product integrity: ensuring your products protected from temperature excursions and fluctuation is core to maintaining their quality and integrity.
Whether it’s keeping food products safe from bacteria or preventing the degradation of active ingredients in pharmaceuticals, the integrity of your cold chain products is your top priority.
  • Reducing waste and loss: a major hurdle in the cold supply chain is mitigating product damage, loss, and waste. The pharmaceutical industry alone faces an estimated annual loss of $35 billion due to compromised cold chains. These costs include product damage and loss and the trickle-over impacts to reputation, customer trust and confidence, consumer safety, partner and investor relationships, and industry authority.
  • Product safety: using cold chain packaging such as thermal blankets for pallets is your first-line of defense in protecting your products from temperature excursions. Many companies assume their pallets follow a straight line from point A to B, however we know that all too often, pallets are left unattended on the tarmac, stranded in containers at ports, or forgotten in transport trucks stuck at border crossings or in unexpected traffic delays.
  • Improved efficiency: time is money and thermal covers are easy to install, space efficient, reusable, environmentally friendly, and multi-purpose - protecting your cold chain products from the warehouse floor to the loading dock across the tarmac and during the drive to the final delivery destination.
  • Compliance with regulatory standards: the costs associated with failing to comply with regulatory and industry standards are insurmountable. From the dollar cost through to the reputational damage, compliance with regulations governing the safe manufacture, transport, delivery and storage of temperature-sensitive products is a must-have.
  • Customer satisfaction: the value of your customer relationships, brand reputation, and customer trust are impossible to quantify and this is exactly why you must do everything possible to ensure every single pallet meets the highest standards.

Keep in mind these statistics when weighing the ROI of thermal blankets for pallets:

  • 50% of vaccines are wasted globally every year due to insufficient temperature control, broken cold supply chains, and shipping-related challenges and errors
  • 30% of pharmaceuticals must be disposed of due to cold chain logistics failure
  • 20% of temperature sensitive products are damaged during transport issues
  • 25% of vaccines are degraded due to “incorrect shipping”

Your CCT Thermal Cover Options

CCT Thermal Covers, powered by Tyvek®, are designed to protect a wide variety of life science products including controlled room temperature (CRT) pharmaceutical products, active pharmaceutical ingredients, chemicals, and medical devices.

All CCT Thermal Covers are recyclable (fleece must first be removed from W50), affordable, and deliver advanced multi-threat protection.

Meet the CCT Thermal Cover line-up:

  • W10 Thermal Covers: are easy to use and can be installed on your pallets in 90 seconds. The low-bulk properties make this thermal cover easy to store and transport. Both lightweight and durable, the flash-spun structure of Tyvek resists tears and punctures while being two to eight times lighter than competitor products.

The W10 delivers inherent breathability with fabric that allows air and water vapor exchange, helping ensure interior moisture levels do not reach dangerous levels due to ambient temperature fluctuations.

The special optical proprieties of the W10 thermal cover is a superior reflector of solar radiation – thereby reducing heat gain.
  • W20 Thermal Covers: provide enhanced temperature control with an inner metallized layer. This metallized inner coating decreases heat transfer in the direction of your cargo, without reducing thermal cargo cover breathability.

The breathability of the W20 thermal cover reduces risks from humidity, condensation, and trapped gasses. And speeds the recovery to your target temperature when brought back into the cold chain after exposure to a hot environment.

The W20 is recommended for pharmaceutical products.
  • W50 Thermal Covers: are made of a strong, continuous-filament, fibrous insulation layer laminated to a tough overlay of non-woven Tyvek material. The combination of a low-emissivity silver layer with a highly reflective outer surface and a high efficiency inner insulation layer creates a cargo cover that acts as a radiant shield and a conduction barrier.

Unlike plastic films and bubble-based alternatives, the continuous-filament insulation layer of the W50 thermal cover gives your cargo a lightweight and durable barrier that helps protect against physical handling and weather conditions as it moves through the cold supply chain.

Ideal for long-haul transport, delivering top-of-the-line performance in hot and cold conditions.
