CCT Thermal Cover Family

Temperature-sensitive products can face sudden heat, cold, rain and rough handling when they move between controlled sites. The CCT Thermal Cover Family adds passive protection around pallet loads during these exposed parts of the journey.

Powered by Tyvek®, CCT Thermal Covers are made for air freight, road freight, cross-docking, airport ramp exposure and last-mile delivery. The range includes W10, W20 and W50 covers. This gives cold chain teams a choice of protection based on route risk and expected conditions.

Passive Protection for Cold Chain Shipments

A thermal cover adds a barrier around the load without powered cooling. It can help during short breaks in the controlled supply chain, such as aircraft loading, site transfers and temporary outdoor exposure.

CCT Thermal Covers are used for controlled room temperature medicines, active pharmaceutical ingredients, chemicals and medical devices.

Across the range, the covers are designed to reflect more than 90% of incoming solar energy. Tyvek® is also breathable, waterproof and weather-resistant. This helps limit heat gain while allowing air and water vapour to move through the material.

Choose the Right Level of Protection

The CCT Thermal Cover Family includes three main options for different levels of risk.

W10 Thermal Covers

W10 provides lightweight, breathable protection against solar heat, weather and physical handling.

Its low-bulk design can make storage and transport easier. Pre-shaped formats are also quick to fit around pallet loads. CCT states that W10 can be fitted to a pallet in as little as 90 seconds.

W20 Thermal Covers

W20 adds an inner metallised layer for greater temperature control while keeping the breathable qualities of Tyvek®.

The white outer surface reflects solar radiation, while the inner layer helps reduce heat transfer towards the load. CCT recommends W20 for pharmaceutical shipments and offers options for both air and land freight.

W50 Thermal Covers

W50 is built for more demanding routes. It combines a reflective outer surface, a low-emissivity layer and fibrous insulation to reduce both radiant and conducted heat transfer.

This added insulation makes W50 suited to long-haul transport and routes with greater hot or cold exposure. It keeps the breathable, durable and weather-resistant features used across the wider CCT Thermal Cover Family.

Designed for Air and Land Freight

Thermal risk often rises at transfer points, not while a shipment is inside a controlled site. Airport ramps, loading bays, transfer hubs and cross-docking can expose goods to fast changes in ambient temperature.

CCT Thermal Covers come in industry-standard and customisable pre-shaped sizes. This helps teams match the cover to the load and keep fitting simple.

The covers also hide pallet contents from view and support tamper-evident fitting. That adds a practical layer of protection alongside the thermal barrier.

Breathable Protection Against Condensation

Some non-breathable covers can trap humidity close to the load. The Tyvek® used across the CCT Thermal Cover Family allows air and water vapour to pass through the fabric.

This can help reduce moisture build-up caused by changes in ambient temperature. It can also lower the risk of condensation affecting products, packs or labels.

For routes that move in and out of controlled areas, moisture control can be just as important as limiting solar heat gain.

Recyclable Thermal Cover Options

CCT states that its thermal covers can be fully recyclable where suitable recycling routes are available. Used material can be given a second life in items such as park benches and playground equipment.

This gives cold chain teams another factor to consider when balancing protection, handling and sustainability goals.

Additional Cold Chain Support

CCT C.A.R.E. Services combines shipment visibility, real-time alerts and specialist monitoring for temperature-sensitive logistics. It can support wider CCT packaging programmes where teams need more oversight across the route.

Find the Right CCT Thermal Cover

The right cover depends on the product, route, likely exposure and level of protection required. Compare W10, W20 and W50 in the thermal cover product range, or request a material sample for your operation.
