Choosing the Right Container

We're experts at selecting the most cost-effective insulated shipping container to maintain your temperature-sensitive payload. Using our knowledge of thermodynamics, container design, packout configuration, and shipping methods, we'll match your needs with our product line, or design a customized product for your application. We analyze many important factors, including the following features of your shipments:

  • acceptable temperature range and excursions;
  • external ambient temperatures during shipment;
  • shipping method, duration and costs; and
  • size, dimensional weight, and ergonomic requirements.

We develop the most efficient design for your product by properly positioning refrigerants relative to the insulative performance of your insulated shipping boxes, and relative to the conductive and convective rates of heat absorption.

Based on experience (thousands of tests) and knowledge of thermal modeling, Engineering and Technical Services is ready to create and select the most cost effective system for your needs. To help you choose the optimal container, we balance cost and performance, and we select the insulative material that's right for you. Listed below is a summary of R-value by type of insulation. These values are general guidelines based on one-inch thick insulation. Other design features will impact the actual performance of the container.
