Pharmaceutical Distribution: Ground Shipments in Temperature Extremes

A planned change from vaccine vials to pre-filled syringes, shipping both via air and ground, led to a design challenge from a major pharmaceutical company. After diligent work and thoroughly documented thermal testing, Cold Chain's new package design maintained the pre-filled syringes at the required temperature range of 0°C to 15°C for the prescribed period of time. Better yet, Cold Chain's design was selected for production.

Ground shipments are exposed to much greater temperature extremes than air shipments. This scenario using pharmaceutical packaging equipment demands a more robust thermal package while minimizing weight (and shipping costs).

Our engineers applied their knowledge of thermodynamics, and developed a small, cost-effective and freight-saving molded EPS container with a simple packout configuration. Thoroughly tested at Cold Chain Laboratories, this design performed beyond the pharmaceutical company's temperature requirements.

By creating a simple packout design, Cold Chain proved that once again, it's the "go to" company for solutions.
